Pyledriver remains Leger favourite after final declarations
Published:Latest odds ahead of Saturday’s St Leger stakes
After final declarations for Saturday’s showpiece St Leger Stakes at Doncaster, Pyledriver remains the 11/4 favourite in the season’s final Classic.
The three-year-old William Muir-trained colt heads the betting ahead of Santiago at 3/1 and Hukum, who’s the 10/3 third favourite.
Coral’s David Stevens said: “Although Pyledriver remains favourite for the Pertemps St Leger, and deservedly so following his impressive Great Voltigeur success, he’s far from certain to be sent off market leader on Saturday, with the ‘Frankie Factor’ sure to spark plenty of support on the day for Santiago, while Hukum is another vying for favouritism as he bids to add to Sheikh Hamdan and Jim Crowley’s golden summer.”
Elsewhere, Ghaiyyath has now been placed as the odds-on 4/6 favourite for Saturday’s Irish Champion Stakes with six runners declared.
Magical is the 4/1 second favourite for the Group One contest at Leopardstown, ahead of her Ballydoyle stablemate Japan, who’s 9/2. The French-trained Sottsass is an 8/1 shot.
“Although Magical, Japan and Sottsass are all top-level winners, Ghaiyyath sets a clear standard over ten furlongs this season and the Godolphin star will be sent off a warm favourite to continue his winning run,” added Stevens.
