We’re now half a dozen games into the campaign now, and there were plenty of eye-catching displays in the English top-flight.
That meant there were some tough calls to make when Coral football experts picked their Premier League team of matchweek six. Who’s included? We reveal all below…
Formation: 4-3-3
Goalkeeper: Petr Cech (Arsenal)
The three goalies who kept clean sheets this week didn’t have much to do, so we’ve selected former Chelsea keeper Cech in Arsenal colours because of the high-profile nature of the fixture.
Right back: Hector Bellerin (Arsenal)
What does Eden Hazard taste like on toast? Why not ask rapid Spaniard Bellerin! The Gunners full back had a terrific game against a well below par Chelsea, assisting Theo Walcott’s goal as well as helping to secure a clean sheet.
Centre back: Shkodran Mustafi (Arsenal)
In a similar vein to Bellerin, summer signing Mustafi kept in-form physical Blues frontman Diego Costa very quiet at the Emirates, so we’ve picked the Gunners new boy in the heart of defence.
Centre back: Steve Cook (Bournemouth)
Although Junior Stanislas once again proved to be the scourge of Everton, the Cherries’ home win proved to be as much about dogged defending as that decisive moment from the winger. Cook aided Bournemouth to just their second clean sheet of the season across all competitions.
Left back: Daley Blind (Man Utd)
We’ve been very critical of Dutch utility man Blind on Coral news this season so far, but two terrific assists from corner kicks helped the Red Devils smash Leicester City in a 4-1 Old Trafford rout.
Defensive midfield: James McArthur (Crystal Palace)
Scotland anchorman McArthur inspired the Eagles’ revival on Wearside, as Palace turn a 2-0 deficit into a 3-2 victory. First setting up midfield cohort Joe Ledley, McArthur headed in an equaliser before Christian Benteke stole all the headlines with a stoppage time winner.
Central midfield: Adam Lallana (Liverpool)
What an effect playing in a forward-thinking midfield role has had on Lallana this season. His goal and two assists as the Reds routed Hull City 5-1 at Anfield saw the England man squeeze into our XI just ahead of Kevin De Bruyne.
Attacking midfield: Juan Mata (Man Utd)
With Wayne Rooney benched, Spain international Mata took over the central supporting role for Manchester United and delivered against reigning Premier League champions Leicester by completing a fine team goal and setting up Marcus Rashford for a tap-in.
Forward: Sergio Aguero (Man City)
Lethal Argentina marksman Aguero just cannot stop scoring with another brace against Swansea City putting him joint top of the Premier League goal charts, despite having served a ban this term as well. In this sort of form, he is unplayable.
Forward: Jermain Defoe (Sunderland)
The Black Cats are really letting down their star striker Defoe. He’s carrying the goal burden just fine up front, bagging a brace against Palace, but the defenders on Wearside let their lead slip.
We still recognise what deadly Defoe does in front of goal, though, and he’s also Premier League joint top scorer with five.
Forward: Son Heung-Min (Tottenham)
Nice one, my Son. Like fellow forwards Aguero and Defoe, the South Korea attacker helped himself to two goals as Spurs sunk Middlesbrough at The Riverside.
