Premier League Final Day: Could Liverpool pull off another miracle?

Published:

Title odds ahead of the last day of the campaign

Liverpool will feel like anything is possible right now, having just come from 3-0 down to beat Barcelona and seal their place in the Champions League final.

They’re only a point behind Manchester City heading into the final day of the Premier League season, but the odds suggest City are clear favourites to defend their title.

Will City stay on course or will a late stumble let the Reds in? We’ve cast our eye over the possible outcomes…

Premier League winner odds

Pep Guardiola’s side are 1/10 to finish on top, with Liverpool back at 6/1.

City will win the title if they beat Brighton & Hove Albion, regardless of what Liverpool do.

They’re 1/6 to get three crucial points at the Amex Stadium. Having beaten Brighton twice already this season without conceding, they’re also 19/20 to win to nil again.

Liverpool are 4/11 to do their part and beat Wolves at home. With goal difference a potential factor and Wolves having already secured seventh spot, the Reds are 12/5 to win on the -2 Handicap.

What else is at stake?

With the three relegation spots settled and City, Liverpool and Chelsea having sealed a top-three finish, fourth place is one of the few issues left to be decided.

Tottenham Hotspur are three points clear of North London rivals Arsenal in fifth, while their goal difference tally is eight higher than the Gunners.

Our traders have Arsenal way back at 100/1 to take fourth. That would require Spurs to lose to Everton (29/10), Arsenal to win at Burnley (23/20) and an eight-goal swing in Arsenal’s favour.

Even if Arsenal can’t get fourth, they’ll want to make sure they don’t slip into sixth. If Watford beat City in the FA Cup final, the side finishing sixth would start their season in July with the second round of Europa League qualifiers.

Who’ll win the Golden Boot?

The Golden Boot race looks livelier, with Mohamed Salah 2/7 favourite to defend the trophy on 22 goals.

Sergio Aguero (4/1), Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (14/1) and Sadio Mane (14/1) are all on 20 goals heading into the final day. They’ll need a hat-trick to overhaul Salah, providing the Egyptian doesn’t net against Wolves.
