Fantasy football transfer tips
The Premier League got off with a bang last weekend, featuring Joe Hart’s shock dropping, Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s debut strike and goals galore at the Emirates.
With the next wave of fixtures just around the corner you may be tempted into some early alterations, here, Coral football writers have picked out five Premier League fantasy football transfer tips…
Lloris replaced by Vorm
After getting injured in Tottenham’s opening game, Hugo Lloris, who Coral has at 9/1 to be the highest scoring fantasy league keeper, will now be out for around a month and will be replaced by Dutch goalie Michel Vorm.
The former Swansea man was brought on as a substitute for Lloris at Goodison Park last week, and is now White Hart Lane’s number one, at least for the time being.
Adding Vorm to your side looks like an astute addition, as this weekend Spurs take on a Crystal Palace side who struggled for goals last term and are yet to find the net this campaign. A clean sheet and home win looks likely at 27/20.
Vorm has the fantasy football league price of £5.5m and should allow you to invest in higher quality players in other positions.
Sigurdsson primed for points
Since Francesco Guidolin took charge of Swansea in January, while on the field, Gylfi Sigurdsson has scored or assisted 56.3 per cent of his side’s goals.
The Swans won 1-0 in their opening fixture of the season last weekend, and should relish meeting Hull, a club in disarray off the field.
After helping his country to the quarter finals of Euro 2016, Sigurdsson came off the bench against Burnley and is set to start after working on match fitness.
Alternatively, Swans new Spanish signing Fernando Llorente could be a solid transfer. The Spaniard managed four accurate attempts on his league debut, looked quality on the ball and was rewarded with an assist for Leroy Fer’s winner.
Capture Coutinho
After his excellent outing at the Emirates, where he registered two assists and scored a stunning free-kick, earning the maximum bonus points in a 15-point haul, over 160k fantasy football managers transferred Philippe Coutinho into their selections.
The Brazilian recorded eight goals and five assists last term, and has already got off to a flyer. Coutinho is set to be unleashed on Premier League new-boys Burnley at the weekend by Liverpool, who come into the game as 6/4 favourites to win to nil.
Reap Rondon rewards
After a slow start moving from Zenit St Petersburg for £12m, Salomon Rondon has impressed and scored the winner in West Bromwich Albion’s league opener against Crystal Palace, operating as a lone striker.
Since February of this year, the Venezuelan hitman has been involved in more than 50 per cent of the Baggies’ goals and is rumoured to now be courted by Spanish giants Barcelona and Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal.
Rondon at £6.5 is a bargain, and great choice ahead of some of the more expensive forwards.
Baines in
When Leighton Baines is fit, the talented left back racks up fantasy points, with goals and assists.
The Toffees lined up in a 3-4-2-1 formation in their Premier League curtain raiser under Ronald Koeman.
The Dutchman’s use of Baines on the left of a four-man midfield, bodes well for the England defender’s fantasy point potential. With his array of offensive attributes, deadly delivery and exceptional link up play, Baines looks a smart switch.
As new signing Ashley Williams comes in to marshall the defence, the Goodison Park outfit will be strong at the back. Koeman’s Southampton recorded an impressive 12 clean sheets last term, and will look to take this form into his new job on Merseyside.
