Prem preview: Arsenal, Liverpool & a tight derby lead tonight’s picks
Published:Midweek treat of top-flight fixtures
Tuesday sees a trio of Premier League fixtures as England’s elite hit Matchday 25.
Arsenal travel to Wales to face Swansea City, West Ham United host Crystal Palace, and Liverpool go to Huddersfield Town.
It’s a vital evening of action at both ends of the table. The Coral News Team previews the three games and presents their best bets.
Swansea v Arsenal
Rewind a couple of weeks and this game could have been a bit of a stinker. However, after a big win over Liverpool, Swansea are buzzing.
Arsenal, too, have won back-to-back games and sealed their place in the Carabao Cup final. There could be some fireworks in South Wales this evening.
There are generally a few goals when these two clash on Welsh turf. Since the Swans were promoted back to the top flight, there have been three or more goals in six of the seven games at the Liberty Stadium.
Over 2.5 Goals is 8/11. Carlos Carvalhal won’t sit back knowing his side need points quick so Both Teams to Score at 20/23 looks a good bet.
Arsenal have won the previous two fixtures at the Liberty. However, they look a little short to back at 1/2 so combining the win with Over 2.5 Goals at 6/5 looks better.
Huddersfield v Liverpool
Liverpool have hit a dodgy patch, losing their last two games. However, the Merseyside outfit have still lost just one of their last 15 league games.
And David Wagner’s Terriers are in poor form, having lost their last three league games in a row. The Reds are very short at 3/10 but it’s justified considering the gap in quality between the sides.
Huddersfield have a real problem scoring goals, managing just 19 in 24 games. In terms of shots on goal, they’re 19th in the division.
Liverpool top that particular table with only Manchester City outscoring them. However, Jurgen Klopp’s side are defensively poor on the road, conceding 22 goals away – the worst in the top half.
Liverpool’s firepower should see them over the line. The Reds to win and Over 2.5 Goals is 20/23.
West Ham v Crystal Palace
It’s a London derby tonight between the Hammers and the Eagles with just a point separating the sides.
David Moyes has done a superb job at the London Stadium since taking over. West Ham have lost just once in their last nine league games.
Roy Hodgson has worked his own miracles at Palace, too, with the Eagles losing just two of the last 13 league games.
Moyes has a big absentee list to contend with, though, with up to 12 senior players out. Palace are without the pivotal Scott Dann, while Mamadou Sakho and Yohan Cabaye could miss out.
It’s hard to get away from the feeling that both these sides will settle for a point. The Draw is 11/5.
