Plumpton preview: Createur weighted to open account
Published:David Metcalf | November 2, 2015
Createur ran really well when runner-up last time out and can take advantage of what looks a lenient mark to go one better in the 2m handicap hurdle on today’s card at Plumpton (14.20).
The gelding had some fairly useful form on the flat when trained in France, and after joining Tim Vaughan ran very well on his first try over the obstacles when a five length runner-up to the now 113-rated Perspicace at Taunton.
Createur then failed to build on that when sent off a well-backed 9/4 favourite and finishing a distant fourth at Fakenham, before putting in a much improved effort when a staying on 8 1/4 length third to the now 133-rated Altruism at Cartmel three starts back.
That form reads well in the context of this contest and Createur comes into it on the back of a solid second to Bulletproof at Exeter off a mark of 104.
Although no match for the five length winner, the four-year-old travelled strongly throughout and kept on well in the closing stages.
It was an effort which suggested Creatuer was ahead of the assessor, and off just 1lb higher the son of Muhtathir looks weighted to take all the beating.
Dancing Dik hoping for second success
In the 2m 3f handicap chase (15.30), Dancing Dik looks to have been found a nice opportunity to land a second success over the larger obstacles.
The Paul Henderson trained gelding scored in good style over course and distance two starts back when making all to easily beat Battlecat by 11 lengths.
Dancing Dik was hit with an 11lb success for that victory, but looked set to follow-up at this venue 14 days ago when well clear until making a horrific blunder three from home.
The error stopped the 10-year-old in his tracks, and it was to Dancing Dik’s credit that he managed to stay on again to be beaten 10 lengths.
It was a performance which suggested Dancing Dik should be capable of winning races of his current mark of 89, and granted a clear round the son of Diktat is likely to prove hard to peg back at a track which clearly suits.
