Three-year-old colt 5/6 to win at Newmarket

Despite uncertainty on when the 2020 Qipco 2,000 Guineas will go ahead, steady market leader Pinatubo has been backed in as the odds-on favourite to win the Group 1 flat race.

The long-time ante-post favourite has attracted some support for the colts’ Classic, with his odds being cut to 5/6 on from even money.

Arizona is the 7/1 second favourite for the Guineas win, with Al Suhail’s odds being trimmed to 16/1 from 20s.

Coral’s David Stevens said: “Pinatubo had been steady as the evens market leader for the Qipco 2,000 Guineas for a long time, not surprising given the uncertainty about the race’s timing, but following an upbeat bulletin from his trainer Charlie Appleby, punters have forced the unbeaten star into odds-on favouritism for the first time.”

Elsewhere, Quadrilateral still heads the betting as the 4/1 favourite in the Qipco 1,000 Guineas, with Albigna and Love the nearest challengers at 12s.

In the Irish 2,000 Guineas, Siskin still leads the way as the 5/2 favourite for success at The Curragh, with Arizona once again the second favourite to win at 7/2.
