Clash of King and Klaasen plus much more
Day 11 of the 2016 PDC World Darts Championship brings a varied afternoon roster to the Ally Pally, as Mervyn King and Jelle Klaasen square-up for the final second round scuffle, before young-guns Michael Smith and Benito van de Pas raise the curtain on the last 16.
This is a session simply too good to miss, as James Wade and Jamie Caven also take to the stage. Read on for Coral’s preview of the oche entertainment…
Second round
Mervyn King v Jelle Klaasen

However, this encounter may not prove quite so clear cut, even for the in-form Cobra. Klaasen has come unstuck in three of his last four frays with King, and has a 10-13 losing record against the regal Englishman.
In The Cobra’s favour, however, is a 2006 BDO World Championship clash with King at this very same stage, in which Klaasen emerged 4-2 victor before going on to triumph in the tournament. Back the Dutchman at 7/2 to deliver by that same scoreline again here.
Last 16
Michael Smith v Benito van de Pas

Smith has the advantage after sinking Van de Pas in four of their last five meetings, so is 1/3 for another oche triumph against this opponent. Big Ben (12/5) scalped Smith most recently and when it counted back in the 2010 World Youth Championship, but Bully Boy is a completely different beast now, and has been clocking up much higher averages. So, plump for English arrowsmith Smith at 9/2 to win 4-3.
James Wade v Jamie Caven

However, whatever the result, this will prove to be Caven’s best-ever World Darts Championship finish, while eight-time major title winner Wade is a man for the big stage and so worth backing in current form at 15/8 to be King of the Oche (player to win match, most 180s and highest checkout. If any of the markets are tied, bets will be settled as losers).
