Paulinho ‘may leave’: five possible destinations for the Brazilian

Following claims by Paulinho that he may leave Spurs, 8/1 to secure a top four finish, in the January transfer window, Coral suggest five possible clubs for the Brazilian midfielder, after seemingly being left out in the cold by new boss Mauricio Pochettino.

“Players always wants to play. I am participating in few games at Tottenham. Maybe it’s the opportunity to go back,” Paulinho told Brazilian media.

“There is interest of Brazilian clubs, but nothing concrete yet. I’m glad to have a recognition, I feel proud.

“Tottenham invested very big money to transfer me there, but I can work or not, like any other player. I do not have to think about transferring, but any player is subject to transfer when the window opens.”

So, where could Paulinho go next? Here’s what we came up with as a next team…

Corinthians
A move back to the club he came from could be a possibility, and he will be familiar the environment that he was once happy in. He would link up with former Bayer Leverkusen player Renato Augusto in midfield, and may enjoy a slower pace of life in a league he knows.

Inter Milan
Should he wish to link up with fellow Brazilians Dodo, Hernanes, Jonathan and Juan Jesus, Inter Milan could be an option. With Mateo Kovacic attracting interest from clubs around Europe, Spurs could even offer Paulinho plus cash for his Croatian counterpart.

Having been frozen out at Tottenham, Paulinho may enjoy a more warmer climate at Inter, 14/1 second-favourites to win the Europa Leaguue, and the way of life that is synonymous with Italy, and a deal may materialise if both clubs can agree terms.

Monaco
Paulinho would surely jump at the chance for a big payday in Monaco, and link up with fellow Portuguese-speaking player Joao Moutinho in the engine room. This would be a a real opportunity to form a potentially thriving partnership.

The principality side recently lost James Rodriguez in the summer to Real Madrid, plus star striker Radamel Falcao left on loan for Manchester United. Paulinho could, therefore, help to fill the void with a move shaking free his undoubted star quality.

Porto
A club that is renowned for Brazilians, with compatriots Casemiro, Danilo and Alex Sandro all in Samba Boys boss Dunga’s latest international squad, though which also speaks Paulinho’s language, the player may become settled here in time, if given the chance.

Porto, nicknamed the Dragons, have also compiled a side that is bursting with talent, which plays attractive football, and the box-to-box presence offered by Paulinho could be an attractive option.

Sao Paulo
A return to Brazil, may see him go back to the place of his birth. Sao Paulo actually have a very promising squad, littered with names like Kaka, Luis Fabiano, Alexandre Pato, Michel Bastos and Denilson and the attacking midfield gem that is Ganso.
