St James’s Palace Stakes winner 11/4 favourite
Ahead of August’s Prix Jacques le Marois, Palace Pier has been placed as the 11/4 favourite to win Group 1 race.
The John Gosden-trained three-year-old colt heads the field after winning the St James’s Palace Stakes ahead of favourite Pinatubo at Royal Ascot in June.
Recent Prix d’Ispahan winner Persian King comes in as the second favourite at 5/1 for the opening show on the Deauville Group 1.
Pinatubo is 6/1 to overcome his defeat at Ascot and follow up his win in the Prix Jean Prat at Deauville with another win.
Coral’s David Stevens said: “Trainer John Gosden earmarked the Jacques le Marois for Palace Pier following his victory at Royal Ascot, and although some of his potential Deauville rivals have the option of next week’s Qatar Sussex Stakes, the favourite should still face a stern test with Persian King leading the opposition.”
Elsewhere, Enable remains the 8/11 favourite to claim her third victory in the King George VI & Queen Elizabeth II Stakes following her wins in 2017 and 2019.
Magical looks best placed to challenge at 11/4, before Japan at 4/1.
Siskin heads into the Qatar Sussex Stakes as 13/8 favourite, with Mohaather second favourite at 11/4.
