Palace Pier Evens favourite for Queen Elizabeth II Stakes as Mohaather is retired

The much-anticipated showdown will no longer take place
Palace Pier is Evens favourite (from 6/4) with our traders to win the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes in October.
That follows the news that Mohaather – who had been 10/3 second favourite for the Ascot race – has suffered a career-ending injury.
In the absence of Mohaather, it’ll be up to the likes of King Of Change, Siskin and Kameko to challenge Palace Pier, whose storming victory in the St James Palace Stakes makes him the one to beat here.
“Mohaather was one of the stars of this season following his thrilling Sussex Stakes win, and his clash with Palace Pier amongst others in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes promised so much. His premature retirement is sad for the colt’s connections and race fans in general, and leaves Palace Pier as a warm favourite for the Champions day contest,” said Coral’s David Stevens.
