Tyson Fury odds-on to win SPOTY 2020
The boxer is the clear favourite after winning Deontay Wilder rematch
Tyson Fury is the odds-on favourite to be crowned the 2020 Sports Personality of the Year.
The Gypsy King’s odds have been cut to 4/5, having been as long as 7/4 earlier this month.
Fury has enjoyed a remarkable comeback in recent years, battling depression and addiction problems to win the WBC and lineal heavyweight titles.
Following a controversial draw with Deontay Wilder in December 2018, Fury displayed a masterclass to convincingly win the rematch in February.
A third fight is set to take place, although it’s unclear if it will happen this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
However, Fury is still expected to claim the SPOTY title even if he doesn’t fight again until 2021.
“Nobody quite knows what the sporting look back at 2020 will be like when we get to SPOTY,” said Coral’s Harry Aitkenhead.
“But Fury’s outstanding knockout of Wilder back in February will take some topping and he’s the odds on favourite to win the award that Ben Stokes took in 2019.”
Lewis Hamilton is the second-favourite to win the award at 10/1.
To win SPOTY 2020:
Tyson Fury 4/5
Lewis Hamilton 10/1
Anthony Joshua 16/1
Jordan Henderson 161
Ronnie O’Sullivan 25/1
