Sports Round-up: Our trader previews Friday’s action
Overview of Friday’s action, including NRL, golf and Aussie Rules
With so little live action to enjoy on British shores at the minute, our senior trader Andrew Wildig has caste his eye further ashore to bring you a round-up of the best action going on elsewhere…
7:00 St George Illawarra Dragons Vs Penrith Panthers (NRL)
Penrith will be looking to push on from last week’s win over reigning premiers Sydney Roosters, while St George will need to put in an improved performance after losing at home to Wests Tigers in the opening round. Matt Dufty returns at full back for St George while Mikaele Ravalawa misses out.
This one-day shootout in Hertfordshire sees Callum Shinkwin and Steven Brown head a competitive field. The tournament will be traded live through the day with five-places on offer at 1/4 odds.
8:50 Western Bulldogs Vs Collingwood (Aussie Rules) – Live on BT Sport ESPN
Western Bulldogs are looking to pick up where they left off last season against Collingwood Magpies. The Bulldogs won four games in a row to make the finals. Will they be able to build on that behind closed doors?
Collingwood lost in the preliminary finals to eventual runners-up Greater Western Sydney in a low-scoring game. They’ll want to make a strong start to the new season.
9:05 Brisbane Broncos VS South Sydney Rabbitohs (NRL) – Live on Sky Sports Action
Both these sides started well last week with the Broncos beating the Cowboys, a form line that looks better following the Cowboys win vs the lacklustre Bulldogs to start round 2, while Souths beat Cronulla at the ANZ stadium.
Tevita Pangai Junior misses out for the Broncos but the teams are otherwise unchanged from the squads in round 1. Latrell Mitchell starts at fullback for Souths after a closed season switch from premiers Sydney Roosters, he been boosted 5/1 to score a try in the first half.
There are also four more games from the Candidates Chess tournament – who’ll win the right to take on Magnus Carlson for the World Championship?
The 2018 winner Fabio Caruana has made another impressive start. He plays Ian Nepomniachtchi, who won with black against fellow Russia Alexander Grischuk earlier in the week.
