Wells Fargo Championship betting tips: McIlroy favourite on return to action
Wells Fargo Championship betting tips, odds and preview
The PGA Tour is in Maryland this week and we have studied the odds to pick out some Wells Fargo Championship betting tips.
This tournament usually takes place at Quail Hollow but that is being prepared for the Presidents Cup later this year so TPS Potomac at Avenel Farm is the host venue instead.
Here are the leading contenders in the Wells Fargo Championship odds plus some other players worth considering.
Rory McIlroy
McIlroy is the clear favourite at 15/2 as he returns to action for the first time since finishing runner-up at the US Masters.
He is the defending champion and a three-time winner which is perhaps reflected in his price but the change of venue makes him worth taking on.
It should be remembered though that Jon Rahm was the hot favourite on the PGA Tour last week and justified his odds with a wire-to-wire victory at the Mexico Open.
Corey Conners
The Canadian is in fine form with four top-12 finishes in his last six events, including a tie for sixth at Augusta National.
On a course which should reward accuracy over power, Conners has a chance but he is still only ranked 31st in the world and his price looks a bit on the skinny side at 18/1.
Matt Fitzpatrick
Fitzpatrick has been in decent form this year but a missed cut at the RBC Heritage last time out will have some punters happy to avoid him.
He has finished in the top 10 in four of the eight events he has played this year though and his iron play makes him a tempting pick for Wells Fargo Championship betting tips at 20/1 in a week when many of the big names are missing.
Tony Finau
Another option at the same 20/1 price is Finau, who went close last week when he shot a final-round 63 to set the clubhouse target but Rahm held his nerve to win by one shot.

Finau could have won with a better performance on the greens and he was ranked first for strokes gained tee to green so he should start the week full of confidence.
Best of the rest
Tyrrell Hatton has had a solid season so far which includes a tie for second at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and three other top-10 finishes so catches the eye at 28/1.
Brandon Wu is 45/1 to improve on his performance last week when he finished tied for second while Alex Smalley was another to impress in Mexico.
His tie for sixth followed on from finishing joint runner-up at the Corales Puntacana Championship in March. He missed two cuts in between but could be a decent each-way shout for Wells Fargo Championship betting tips at 50/1.
