After Sebastian Vettel announced he’ll leave Ferrari atthe end of the Formula 1 season, it immediately triggered speculation over whowill come in to replace him.
The four-time world champion played second fiddle toteammate Charles Leclerc during the 2019 campaign.
Now, with a prized spot at the Prancing Horse up for grabs, who’ll be racing alongside Leclerc next season? We’ve taken a look at the leading contenders, according to the latest odds.
Carlos Sainz (8/11)
Carlos Sainz is now in pole position as the odds-onfavourite, having seen plenty of interest from Coral customers. The Spaniard hasimpressed for McLaren and seems to be happy where he is, but could he pass upthe chance to join Ferrari?
He’s looked promising in the midfield and has earned one podiumspot during his F1 career so far, but you feel there’s still more to come fromthe 25-year-old. Is he now ready for the next level?
Daniel Ricciardo (11/4)
Our traders also have Daniel Ricciardo in the mix to replace Vettel. The Australian has been open about his desire to move on from Renault.
He reportedly wanted to join the Scuderia when he left RedBull in 2018, but Ferrari opted for Leclerc instead.
Ricciardo ended up joining Renault, where things haven’treally worked out for him. Now the seven-time Grand Prix winner could get themove he really wanted in the first place.
Valtteri Bottas (15/2)
If Ferrari are after a driver they can count on, then ValtteriBottas could be their man.
With plenty of experience and seven Grand Prix wins to hisname, the Finn has proven he can handle the pressure that comes with drivingfor one of the biggest teams in the sport.
However, after largely being in Lewis Hamilton’s shadow atMercedes, would he want a similar role with Leclerc at Ferrari?
Daniil Kvyat (8/1)
Ferrari already know Daniil Kvyat well – he was theirsimulator driver in 2018. Other than Vettel, Kvyat is the only driver to putToro Rosso on the podium in F1.
He also replaced the German when making the step up to ToroRosso’s parent team, Red Bull, in 2015. However, he struggled at Red Bull andwas demoted back to Toro Rosso.
Can he handle a big spotlight? And would Ferrari think it’sworth taking a chance on him?
Lewis Hamilton (16/1)

Surely not? Having started as a 25/1 shot, Lewis Hamilton isnow 16/1 to leave Mercedes for Ferrari.
His contact may be up at the end of the season, but it’sonly recently that the world champion said that he was very happy with his ‘dreamteam’.
Despite that, if Ferrari get any indication that theStevenage-born star is open to a move, you’d imagine they’d want to talk to him.
It would shake up the F1 world, but Hamilton lining up inFerrari red next season could now be a genuine possibility.
