One For Arthur’s Grand National triumph one for punters
Published:
One For Arthur’s victory in this afternoon’s Grand National was a welcome result for many punters this afternoon, with the 14-1 chance a popular selection on the busiest betting day of the year. The winner, the first National winner to be trained in Scotland since 1979, was particularly well-backed with patriotic Scottish punters.
“Definitly Red, Cocktails At Dawn, Perfect Candidate and Wounded Warrior were the quartet of horses we really feared when the race started, so our first reaction was relief that none of the four came home in front, but One For Arthur was a popular selection among the many once a year punters who enjoy a National flutter, and particularly so in Scotland, so we’re certainly not popping the champagne corks tonight,” said Coral’s David Stevens.
“Recent Nationals have been really kind to us, so we’re not complaining about this year’s result, on a day when the rising temperatures set the scene perfectly for the biggest betting day of the year,” added Stevens.
