How many medals will Team GB win at Olympics?

With the Olympics soon upon us, Coral have opened up a number of specials, and chief among them is the question on every British sporting patriot’s lips. How many medals will Team GB win?

The markets from which our Olympics specials tips are drawn are under/over totals; and that particular bet relating to Great Britain is set at 54.5.

To get over that total, odds of even-money are available, while Team GB are 8/11 to end the Olympics with 54 medals or fewer.

What of golden glory?

Besides how many medals will Team GB win; there’s the question of how many Gold? Among major British hopes to be top of the podium are Jessica Ennis-Hill, Mo Farah, Chris Froome and Bradley Wiggins.

Such household names from the world of track and field athletics, as well as cycling, easily multiply when you add in more niche sports such as equestrian, sailing, shooting and so on.

When it comes to how many Golds Team GB will win, the over/under is set at 18/5, with a price of evens available for them to exceed that total. Britain are odds-on at 8/11 to fall short and win 18 Gold medals or fewer.

Overall picture

There’s also the overall Olympics medal table to consider. How many medals Team GB will win aside, they are expected to be fourth behind the USA (1/12 favourites), China (6/1) and controversial Russia (50/1), who’s sportspeople cannot enter several Olympic events because of a widespread doping scandal.

At 100/1 to win the most medals of competing nation at the Olympics, Britain will find it tough to reproduce the form their athletes did on home soil four years ago with conditions in Brazil set to be quite different.

And as for the overall Gold medal picture, the US are strongly fancied at 1/5 ahead of China (7/2). Russia (66/1) again are narrowly ahead of Team GB, who are 80/1 chances.

If any of these appeal as Olympics specials tips, then take our prices before the action officially gets underway on Friday, August 5th.
