Odds cut again for England to win the World Cup despite Belgium loss

England’s odds of winning the World Cup have been cut for the second time in a week, despite their 1-0 loss to Belgium last night.
The Three Lions are now considered the 7/1 fourth-favourites for the tournament following confirmation of their potentially easier route to the final.
Gareth Southgate’s side will now face Colombia in the last-16 ahead of a prospective meeting with Sweden or Switzerland in the quarter-finals.
Brazil remain the 10/3 favourites for the World Cup after they topped Group E by collecting seven points from nine. They sit just ahead of Spain (4/1) and Belgium (13/2).
Croatia have been the team of the tournament for many people so far and have been cut into 11/1 ahead of Argentina, Portugal and Colombia, as a result.
“If England can beat Colombia in their last-16 match, in theory they would face an easier path to the semi-finals, so there could well be a silver-lining to the defeat in Kaliningrad, and Gareth Southgate’s men are now fourth favourites to go all the way,” said Coral’s David Stevens.
