Nicola McGeady thinks she’s spotted this year’s X Factor winner
Published:The return of Simon Cowell and Cheryl what’s her name have definitely added some much needed spice to a show that was dying a painful death. Bringing it back to basics by holding the auditions in a room without a jeering crowd was also a necessary change, but the sob stories, and tear-jerking music has got to go. Rant out of the way, lets talk about the odds.
The early 6-1 favourite is an unexpected fishmonger from Newcastle called Lola Saunders. There was no doubting her voice, but for me, she didn’t cause the goosebumps effect, which is a must for any X Factor winner (with the exception of Steve Brookstein, Leon Jackon and Joe McElderry).
Ben Haenow, Paul Akister and Andrea Fustini all come under the goosebumps category for me. Paul Akister’s rendition of Jealous Guy was a winning performance, while Ben Haenow and Andrea Fustini’s performances both took me by surprise. Out of the three, I think Haenow is the most likely contestant to go all the way and he can be backed at 8-1. Perhaps I’ve have jumped the gun by putting my cash down now but without blowing my own trumpet, my X Factor strike rate hasn’t been too shabby over the years. And with that, I’ve no doubt jinxed my own bet. Good luck!
