Five fantastic NFL week 6 tips

Week 6 of the NFL season throws up interesting clashes, as the fight to remain in the playoff picture is entering the desperation stage for some teams.

The cream is beginning to rise to the top in both conferences, and those sides have the chance to grasp the nettle and take command of their destiny.

Denver Broncos have already suffered their second defeat of the season this week, which will open up the AFC for their rivals Oakland Raiders, New England Patriots and Pittsburgh Steelers.

Here, Coral presents its five top NFL week 6 tips for this weekend’s round of matches.

Jacksonville Jaguars @ Chicago Bears

The Jaguars had a huge win at Wembley Stadium over the Indianapolis Colts, avoiding a 0-4 start to the campaign. Head coach Gus Bradley will have breathed a huge sigh of relief as pressure was growing on the 50-year-old given the club’s struggles during his tenure.

Jacksonville have had the bye week to prepare for the Bears, with the knowledge that a victory would put them back into the mix in the AFC South due to the poor form of their rivals Houston Texans, Tennessee Titans and the Colts.

The Jaguars have the ability to expose the Bears’ defensive issues with their talented receiving corps, which should see them secure their second triumph of the campaign.

Bradley’s men are +2.0 against the spread, which is extremely enticing given their ability on offense, and the Bears’ stuttering start to the season.

Los Angeles Rams @ Detroit Lions

The Rams saw a run of three-straight victories ended by Buffalo Bills in their 30-19 defeat to Rex Ryan’s men. They are still in a decent position in the NFC West, but will want to get back to winning ways against the Lions to keep their playoff ambitions on course.

Quarterback Case Keenum had his second down game of the campaign after three solid performances on the spin, and he will have to ensure that he keeps his mistakes to a minimum at Ford Field.

Elsewhere, it’s time for running back Todd Gurley to deliver. The 22-year-old is enduring a sophomore slump, averaging just 2.7 yards per carry and three touchdowns. The Rams will need him to improve if they are to boast a winning record this season.

Although Detroit beat the undefeated Philadelphia Eagles, they’re still deficient in a lot of areas and nowhere near good enough to win without playing at their best. As a result the money line of 29/20 for a Rams victory is a sensible bet to take.

Cincinnati Bengals @ New England Patriots

Tom Brady made his return to action following the deflategate scandal last week, and did not miss a beat, putting on a clinic to brush aside Cleveland Browns with ease at FirstEnergy Stadium.

The 39-year-old now has his homecoming at Gillette Stadium, and will be eager to continue his impressive form to nudge the Patriots into the number one seed in the AFC.

Brady connected with his tight ends Rob Gronkowski and Martellus Bennett 11 times in the win over the Browns, with Bennett notching three scores. Expect them to dominate the Bengals with the same style of attack to expose Marvin Lewis’ men’s defense.

The Bengals were poor in their last outing against Dallas Cowboys, and will be desperate to avoid slipping to 2-4 in their campaign, although they could be entering a buzz saw against the Patriots.

Expect New England to be firing on all cylinders, which makes odds of 16/5 on a 7-12 point win an enticing option for a punt.

Atlanta Falcons @ Seattle Seahawks

The Falcons produced the performance of the season thus far by knocking off defending Super Bowl champions Denver Broncos on the road.

Quarterback Matt Ryan carved apart arguably the best defense in the NFL with the aid of running back Tevin Coleman, to inflict the first defeat of the term on Gary Kubiak’s men as they moved to 4-1 and two matches clear at the top of the NFC South.

If head coach Dan Quinn thought life would be easier for his side after facing the Super Bowl champions, he would have been wrong, as the schedule-makers set up this clash against Seattle Seahawks at CenturyLink Field.

Pete Carroll’s men have been dominant at home thus far this season, and their defense will provide a huge obstacle to the Falcons’ hopes of maintaining their four-game win streak.

This contest will be a close affair given that both teams’ strengths will be put against each other. As a result taking the Falcons on the +6.0 spread is a wise option.

Kansas City Chiefs @ Oakland Raiders

The Raiders have enjoyed a strong start to the season and earned a vital divisional win over San Diego Chargers last week which, following Mike McCoy’s victory over Denver Broncos on Thursday, has seen them top the AFC West.

Jack Del Rio’s men have the opportunity to move to 2-0 in their division and pull one game ahead of the Broncos, solidifying their push for a first playoff berth since 2002. Quarterback Derek Carr has been in outstanding form, throwing 11 touchdowns to just two interceptions, while Amari Cooper has delivered on the promise that he had shown in his rookie year.

Kansas City come into the match fresh off their bye week and determined to bounce back from their hammering at the hands of Pittsburgh Steelers in their last match. Andy Reid’s men cannot afford another loss, especially one in the division, as they aim to keep their post-season hopes alive.

Both teams need the win but, considering the Raiders are at home, they might be able to just edge this one in a 1-6 point victory, with odds of 14/5 for Del Rio’s men to claim the win.
