John Eustace is now the clear favourite in Coral’s next Rangers manager betting after being sacked as head coach of Birmingham despite a bright start to the season.

Eustace led Birmingham to safety last term while a come-from-behind 3-1 derby win over West Brom on Friday left Blues sixth in the Championship after 11 fixtures heading into the international break.

Eustace succeeded Lee Bowyer in July 2022 and helped Birmingham finish nine points above the drop zone in the second tier amid off-field issues surrounding the ownership of the club.

Despite just three defeats so far this season, it was reported over the weekend Eustace’s position was under threat as the club’s new American owners sought a big-name appointment.

Former Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney would seemingly fit the bill after he announced on Sunday he would be leaving DC United following their failure to qualify for the Major League Soccer play-offs.

Eustace will not be short of offers from elsewhere and he is now 7/4 in the next Rangers manager odds.

Kevin Muscat had been leading the way, having won the Treble with Rangers as a player and enjoying success as a manager in Japan, but has been eased to 4/1,

Philippe Clement is second favourite at 5/2 after success in Belgium and is currently available after leaving Monaco at the end of last season while Rooney is 14/1 for the Rangers job.

His former England team-mate Frank Lampard has been eased out to 20/1, having been favourite to succeed Michael Beale at one point last week.
