Emotionless has looked a top notch prospect in winning both his starts, and can take the step up into Group 1 company in his stride to land the Dubai Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket (15.10).
The Charlie Appleby trained colt created a huge impression on debut landing a 7f maiden at Newmarket in breathtaking fashion.
After being slowly away and held-up at the rear, Emotionless made stealthy headway from the three furlong marker before taking up the running inside the last and stretching clear to win easily by 3 1/2 lengths.
The runner-up and third home have both come out and won since, and the fifth home Venturous has gone on to score twice and looks above average. That gave the form a rock solid look, but it was the manner of the performance which impressed most.
Emotionless looked green and a big baby, so the fact that he could get the job done in such impressive style under tender handling after blowing the start suggested he had a huge engine.
That view was confirmed when the well-bred son of Sharmardal put in a devastating display to land the Group 2 Champagne Stakes at Doncaster.
Emotionless travelled on the bridle throughout before quickening clear to win easily by 3 1/2 lengths. It was a performance which oozed class, and he is one of the most exciting juveniles I have seen for some time.
Air Force Blue brings some top class form into the contest, and looks the obvious danger in what looks a match on paper.
The Aidan O’Brien trained colt has won three of his four starts, and comes into the race having bagged a brace of Group 1 contests.
After landing the 6f Phoenix Stakes at the Curragh, Air Force Blue appeared to relish the step up to 7f when showing a smart turn of foot to beat Herlad The Dawn by three lengths in the National Stakes at the same venue.
That form sets a clear standard in this line,up, and the son of War Front looks sure to make a bold bid to provide O’Brien with a fourth winner of the race.
