Aristocratic can lord it over Newmarket rivals
Aristocratic can cash-in on what looks a lenient mark to open her account in the 7f handicap on day two of Newmarket’s July Festival (15.10).
The Sir Michael Stoute trained filly has shown progressive form in four outings, and shaped really well in the last of those at Goodwood when runner-up to Persuasive.
Although no match for the eased down winner, Aristocratic stuck to the task well when headed inside the final furlong to be beaten 1 1/2 lengths.
The winner is an ultra-progressive sort who has gone on the score twice since, including the valuable Sandringham Handicap at Royal Ascot, and that gives the form a rock solid look.
It makes Aristocratic, who was receiving just 3lb from the now 104-rated Persuasive, look potentially thrown-in at the weights off a mark of just 80.
Water’s chances are crystal Clear
Clear Water scored in tremendous style last time out and looks to hold leading claims of following-up in the 1m handicap (1.40).
The Saeed bin Suroor trained filly shaped with plenty of promise when fourth on debut and duly improved for that experience to land a 7f maiden on the Rowley Mile course at this venue.
After tracking the leaders, the three-year-old was produced to take up the running at the furlong marker and forged clear to score going away by four lengths in the manner of a pattern race performer in the making.
If that is to be the case an opening handicap mark of 90 may seriously underestimate Clear Water’s ability and, with further improvement assured, she can take this en route to better things.
Wild about the chances of Hacked
In the 1m 2f handicap (16.45), Wild Hacked looks decent value to land the spoils.
The Marco Botti trained colt won a maiden at Windsor on return to action and has since caught the eye in two runs in handicap company.
After a fine fifth of 13 to Garcia in the valuable Silver Bowl at Haydock, Wild Hacked travelled powerfully and looked all over the winner a furlong out before being beaten just 1 3/4 lengths into third behind Threat Assessed over 1m 1f at Sandown.
Those efforts suggest he could be ahead of his mark and has a decent prize in him, and the step up to 1m 2f may well bring about further improvement.
