Netherlands v Qatar betting tips: Hosts no match for Dutch
Published:Netherlands v Qatar betting tips, predictions and odds
Qatar were the first team to be eliminated from the World Cup 2022 despite being the host nation and it is hard to see them salvaging any pride in their final game.
Netherlands are not yet certain of a place in the last 16, let alone top spot in a group they were expected to dominate, so have plenty to play for.
Tuesday’s Group A match at the Al Bayt Stadium kicks off at 7pm and is live on the ITV.
Van Gaal demands more
Netherlands coach Louis van Gaal was again unimpressed by his side’s ability to maintain ball possession as they had to cling on for a point against Ecuador.
Having previously beaten Senegal 2-0, the Oranje scored early through a bullet strike from PSV Eindhoven forward Cody Gakpo against Ecuador but that was one of only two efforts on target they had in the whole match.
Ecuador, in contrast, put in a barnstorming display and were unlucky to come away with only a draw as captain Enner Valencia seized on a rebound to score his third goal of the tournament early in the second half.

Van Gaal said: “I think we did not play a good match.
“We didn’t play well in ball possession, that was our problem in the first match. And all the second balls, all the duels were for Ecuador. There, you cannot win I believe.
“We’re working on (keeping) possession and we will continue to work on that. Whether we will make it, I can’t guarantee that. But I think so, we have several options in the midfield and I can try them out.”
The meeting with 18/1 underdogs Qatar looks a good opportunity to boost confidence for the knockout stage.
Netherlands winning odds of 2/13 suggest they will have no trouble getting another three points but they may need to improve their goal difference to finish ahead of Ecuador.
Looking at the Netherlands v Qatar odds, 23/20 for the Dutch to win both halves looks a solid pick.
Hosts have limitations exposed
The draw between the Netherlands and Ecuador confirmed Qatar’s elimination from the tournament after just six days, having lost 3-1 to Senegal earlier on the same day.
They at least went down fighting against Senegal and Mohammed Muntari scored their first World Cup goal.
But Felix Sanchez’s side were already facing an uphill struggle after Boulaye Dia’s strike gave Senegal a half-time lead and former Bristol City striker Famara Diedhiou doubled the advantage.
Muntari’s thumping header gave the home fans hope as the hosts showed spirit but Bamba Dieng swept home Senegal’s game-clinching third goal in the closing stages.

Sanchez said: “Our goal was to be competitive. We have been working for so many months to be able to give a good performance.
“We are aware of how tough this competition is. We wanted to go far but we know we had limitations as a country.”
They are expected to be outclassed here and 27/10 for them to be trailing after 15 minutes is one of our Netherlands v Qatar betting tips, along with 5/4 for the Dutch to win by three goals or more.
Gakpo has scored in both games for the Netherlands so far and is 6/4 to outscore the opposition while 14/5 for him to score first in a Dutch win completes our Netherlands v Qatar predictions.
