Selections of 20/1 and 50/1 on day one of the festival made it a very lucky 31

A Coral customer from Neath, Wales, was celebrating today, after he won more than £160,000 for just a £15.50 stake, by correctly picking five winners on the opening day of the Glorious Goodwood race meeting, Tuesday 1st August.

“The punter placed a 50p Lucky 31, which consists of five singles, ten doubles, ten trebles, five four-folds and one five horse accumulator, at the Coral shop on New Street, Neath, and on a day when results at the famous Sussex festival were generally tough to predict, the gentleman, who has yet to claim his winnings, defied the odds to land the huge win,” said Coral’s David Stevens.

“What made this win even more dramatic was that his first winner, Fabricate at 20-1, actually finished second in the race, but was placed first when the winner was disqualified, and that kicked off his extraordinary winning run, which included the 50-1 shot Breton Rock,” added Stevens.

“I suppose we were lucky, as there was also a 100-1 winner on the card, which this customer didn’t pick, but that was the only thing he missed, with the five-fold accumulator alone coming in at odds of more than 72,157-1, a truly magnificent piece of tipping, and we look forward to paying the customer this life-changing sum after what really was a glorious Goodwood for him,” concluded Stevens.

The winning selections were:

Fabricate @ 20-1, Goodwood 1.50

Expert Eye @ 7-4, Goodwood 2.25

Breton Rock @ 50-1, Goodwood 3.00

Stradivarius @ 6-1, Goodwood 3.35

Shenanigans @ 15-2, Goodwood 5.15

Total stake – £15.50

Total winnings – £163,019.50
