Thistlecrack’s out for the rest of the season
Might Bite has been pushed further ahead in the betting for the Gold Cup after 12/1 shot Thistlecrack suffered a stress fracture.
Thistlecrack’s absence means the Coral traders have trimmed Might Bite’s odds to 10/3 (was 7/2) at Cheltenham.
Sizing John leads the chasing pack at 6/1, with Coney Island, Native River, Road to Respect and Our Duke all 10/1.
“Thistlecrack was a 16/1 chance for the Gold Cup following his run in the King George, and had been the subject of some support for Cheltenham following a positive report from connections last week, so his absence is a blow for both connections and punters, while it has also seen Might Bite harden at the head of the betting,” said Coral’s David Stevens.
