Martin and Glazkov fight for Fury’s vacated belt
Undefeated heavyweight contender Charles Martin collides with fellow untoppled Ukrainian Vyacheslav Glazkov at the Barclays Center in New York this weekend for Tyson Fury’s recently-vacated IBF title.
Britain’s world heavyweight champion Fury ended Wladimir Klitschko’s reign last year but was controversially stripped of IBF strap which Martin (22-0-1, 20 KOs) and Glazkov (21-0-1, 13 KOs) will now contest for in Brooklyn in the early hours of Sunday morning.
At a towering 6ft 5in, 29-year-old Martin holds a possibly encouraging height and youth advantage over his eastern European foe, with the dangerous southpaw 11/10 from Coral to emerge victorious on home soil.
Martin makes Glazkov knockout priority
Bearing from Ukraine, unbeaten 31-year-old Glazkov will look to continue his recent ring form and clinch the vacant IBF belt ahead of his hard-hitting opponent, but luck has seemingly been on his side in previous bouts.
‘The Czar’ has been seen by many to have received several contentious judges’ decision of late, including close points wins over Derric Rossy, Malik Scott and Steve Cunningham, with Martin therefore outlining a required knockout in order to prevail.
St Louis-born bruiser Martin has ended 20 of his 23 professional match-ups prematurely, including 12 successive stoppage victories before this Glazkov meeting, and he is out to make a huge division statement this weekend.
“It’s here now, man. I get to fight for the IBF world title,” declared Martin.
“I want to unify. I want everything.”

“I’ve been under wraps a long time but now the world can see me display my skill. Yes, I can’t wait to unify. I want everything.”
‘Prince’ seeks to become heavyweight superstar
Glazkov controversially escaped from earlier fights as the victor, despite looking massively in danger of losing his undefeated record, but ‘Prince’ Martin is ready to halt the Ukrainian’s fortunate streak and become a ‘superstar’.
“He’s never been in the ring with a fighter like me,” Martin continued. “I’m no Cunningham. I’m no Tor Hamer. I’m none of these guys that he fought. I’m totally a different fighter than he’s ever seen.
“So come fight night, I’m ready to prove it to the whole wide world. I’m ready to be that superstar. That’s what you guys are going to see.”
Despite his devastating punching power, impressive speed and dominant size, Martin will enter the ring as the underdog, with Glazkov odds-on 8/11 to lift the IBF strap.
During a weekend which will see former world champion David Haye return and Deontay Wilder look to extend his division dominance, Martin and Glazkov can steal the heavyweight headlines in their New York tussle.
