Chic Theatre and Soupy Soups among Thursday tips for Market Rasen and Wincanton
Published:Coral horse racing experts give their Market Rasen and Wincanton tips for Thursday, December 1 including Chic Theatre odds and Soupy Soups bets.
Chic Theatre odds say he’ll turn on the style at Market Rasen
Chic Theatre can take advantage of a drop in grade to land the 2m 4f handicap hurdle at Market Rasen (14:25).
The David Pipe trained gelding had some smart bumper form and delivered at the third time of asking over the obstacles when showing a good attitude to beat The Unit by a short-head in a 15-runner contest at Doncaster.
Chic Theatre was then far from disgraced when ninth of of 18 to Barney Dwan in a hot class 1 handicap at Sandown off a mark of 124. He also shaped better than the bare result suggests last time out in a class 3 at Cheltenham when seventh of 15 to Behind Time.
The six-year-old has since been dropped another couple of pounds to a mark of 115 and that makes the son of King’s Theatre look dangerously well-treated on the pick of his form.
This lower grade class 4 affair is also a weak contest lacking any real strength in depth and represents by far the easiest task Chic Theatre has faced for some time.
With in-form Coral horse racing ambassador Tom Scudamore in the saddle, everything looks in place for the selection to get back on the scoresheet, so side with Chic Theatre odds.
Jaunty Inflight poised to follow-up
Trainer Dr Richard Newland has his team in terrific form at present and Jaunty Inflight looks to hold outstanding claims of providing him with another winner in the 2m conditional jockeys’ handicap hurdle (15:30).
The seven-year-old was a dual winner last year when in the care of Brian Eckley. He shaped really well on debut for his new handler on seasonal reappearance when beaten just 1 1/2 length into second behind Third Act in a handicap hurdle at Exeter.
Jaunty Inflight then went one better in a handicap chase at Lingfield nine days later when only having to be driven out to score with more in hand than the two-length winning margin suggests.
The gelding now switches back to the smaller obstacles off an unchanged mark of 98, and it’s no surprise to see connections turn him out quickly before the assessor has his say.
Jaunty Inflight is due to race of a rating of 101 in future races so is officially 3lb well in at the weights.
It makes the thriving son of Busy Flight the one to beat providing this race, his third in 11 days, doesn’t come too quickly.

Soupy Soups bets look tasty at Wincanton
Soupy Soups caught the eye last time out, so can cash-in on what looks a lenient mark to land the 2m 3f novices hurdle that gets proceedings underway at Wincanton (12:40).
The Neil Mulholland trained five-year-old was a point winner in Ireland, who made a winning debut in a bumper at Ffos Las when showing good battling qualities to beat Templeross by a neck.
Templeross has won over hurdles since to be rated 126 and the third home You Say What is now rated 132 after going on to taste success on two occasions.
That is strong form, and Soupy Soups went on to shape with promise on his first two starts over hurdles when third before disappointing on handicap debut and finishing a well-beaten eighth of 11 at Warwick.
However, there was lots to like about the gelding’s latest effort at Ffos Las last month where he travelled strongly before keeping on at one pace to finish third of 15 to Verygoodverygood, who has won again since.
It was a performance which suggested Soupy Soups should be well up to winning races off his current mark of 109. With the stable now in good form, this looks a nice opening form him to notch a first success over the obstacles. Side with Soupy Soups bets here.
Silent Steps can collect on hurdling debut
Silent Steps makes her eagerly awaited debut under rules in the 2m 5f mares’ maiden hurdle (13:15) and is strongly fancied to make it a winning one.
The five-year-old fell on debut in an Irish point at Dromahane before bolting up in a 3m contest at Liscarroll by five lengths.
Silent Steps travelled supremely well at the head of affairs in the latter, before drawing clear on the run-in to beat Coillte Lass with any amount in hand.
The runner-up went on to land a point next time up and is unbeaten in two starts since joining trainer Paul Nicholls, whilst the third home Queens Well has subsequently run well to make the frame behind a couple of useful types in two spins over hurdles.
It gives the form a strong look and Silent Steps has since joined handler Nicky Henderson and is reportedly held in very high regard after working well at home.
