Zlatan signs for Man Utd

Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s expected move to Manchester United as been confirmed by the club after the player used his official Instagram and Twitter accounts to say he was on his way to the Premier League club.

The 34-year-old, who struck 156 goals in 180 PSG outings, is reunited with former mentor and newly-appointed Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho. The pair previously worked together at Inter Milan, helping the Nezzarruri lift the 2009 Serie A title and 2008 Supercoppa Italiana.

Ibrahimovic recently retired from international duty with Sweden after the Scandinavian side crashed out of Euro 2016 in the group stage, with the star striker failing to get off the mark in the competition.

The former AC Milan and Barcelona forward was also linked with a prosperous transfer to China, but instead seems to have opted to test himself for the first time in the Premier League.

Man Utd are 9/2 to win the English top-flight title with Coral after Mourinho’s maiden marquee signing, following on from his first surprise purchase of Ivory Coast centre back Eric Bailly earlier in June.

Exciting times at Old Trafford

After enduring their fair share of disappointment since the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013, including David Moyes’ hapless reign, Man Utd fans now have plenty to be excited about on the back of an FA Cup winning campaign.

Louis van Gaal was the man that helped end a 12-year wait for that honour but was swiftly replaced by former Barcelona colleague Mourinho after the club’s Wembley heroics over Crystal Palace.

The Portuguese tactician’s pairing with Ibrahimovic a mouth-watering prospect for next season, as it appears the ‘Special One’ could follow England’s example by playing Wayne Rooney in a deeper role to accommodate the big Swede.

While, Man Utd academy-reared striking starlet Marcus Rashford will have plenty to learn from prolific Ibrahimovic, but may see his game time up top cut by his arrival, with the option floated around by pundits and media to play the youngster wide right instead, with France forward Anthony Martial kept on the left flank.
