Cristiano Ronaldo dropped the biggest transfer story of the summer when confirming he’s on his way out of Real Madrid. It sent the gossip columns into overdrive. Where will CR7 go next, and what price would any potential club have to pay his current employers?
Details remain rather thin on the ground at present, but it looks like Cristiano is bringing an end to his time in Spain after being accused of tax fraud. United to offer De Gea plus cash deal
Our football traders have had their say, and Manchester United are at the head of the betting, currently trading at 6/4. The Portuguese star left the Premier League club back in 2009, setting a world record transfer fee at the time of £80m. If Jose Mourinho wants him to return, the money men will have to more than double that, it is believed. The latest coming out of the tabloids is that The Red Devils are piecing together an offer of £183m plus goalkeeper David De Gea, who is a wanted man at Blancos. That would get Zidane’s attention.
PSG have the ambition to match Ronaldo’s
PSG lead the chasing pack, and have been scratched up as 2/1 favourites to include Ronaldo in their ranks next season. The French side certainly have the financial clout to compete with United for the most sought-after summer signing, but they have one thing the English don’t, and that’s a bargaining chip in Pepe, or at least they will have soon enough. The Portuguese defender is on his way to Paris, and has, apparently, told Ronaldo to ditch the English scene and join him. It’s unlikely Cristiano’s next move will be motivated by wages, but Unai Emery’s side have the funds to match the asking price and the ambition to equal the star’s goals for the future.
LA lifestyle would appeal to CR7
Will Ronaldo do a Becks and move to America? It was no great surprise when David Beckham joined the MLS, but a player of Ronaldo’s quality, at only 32 years-old, surely that would be a wasted talent? LA Galaxy would surely be the frontrunners in that part of the world, and they have room for a player not bound by a salary cap. It was thought they were hot on the heels of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, after the scorer was released by Man Utd, and that would make more sense, but they’re believed to be keeping a close eye on Ronaldo’s situation. The level of football may not be to his taste, but we can see CR7 cutting it in the LA lifestyle. Any MLS club is 7/1.
