Madrid vs Munich: top five bets

Stat-attack on Tuesday’s tussle

The eyes of domestic football fans will be firmly on Leicester’s attempt to overthrow Atletico Madrid and reach the semi-finals of the Champions League on Tuesday evening, but those looking for an example of the beautiful game at its best won’t want to miss Real Madrid vs Bayern Munich.

The Spanish giants take a 2-1 lead back to the Bernabeu, but few expect them to sit on that advantage and defend their way into the final four. Coral traders have Zidane’s troops as favourites for the win, and that’s difficult to argue against, but we take a look through your options.

Below you will find our list of the five best ways to bet on the showpiece event. Five different markets, with prices to suit everyone’s pocket. Click here to make your predictions, or read on as we run through the pointers that can be taken from the stats.

Real Madrid to win

First and foremost, if you want to keep it simple, a bet on Real Madrid to win the match looks to be your safest play. The La Liga side go into Tuesday’s fixture on the back of a 2-1 first-leg cheer over in Germany, and that was Los Blancos fourth in-a-row over Bayern Munich. We have to go back to 2012 for a Munich win vs Real. The home dressing room can be added to your bets at Coral’s 11/8.

Ronaldo to score two or more

Cristiano Ronaldo was, once again, the hero when these sides met last week, scoring two goals at the Alliaz Arena to defeat the 10 men of FCB. That will come as little surprise to followers of the form, but what will catch the attention of punters is that Ronaldo has netted two goals in each of his last two meetings with Munich, also bagging a brace in a 4-0 win when the pair met in 2014. Taking CR7 to score two or more again on Tuesday looks worth a pop at 3/1.

Both teams to score

Bayern Munich showed the strength of their attack when hammering sorry Arsenal 10-2 on aggregate in the round of 16, 5-1 home and away. Was that a poor Arsenal or a savage Munich? A little bit of both, it would appear, but Carlo Ancelott’s side have scored at least one goal in each of their last seven Champions League matches. Both teams to hit the net here, as they did last week, is a 4/11 option in your accumulators.

Vidal to score anytime

Arturo Vidal scored the opener against Real Madrid at the Allianz, smashing in a powerful header with 25 minutes on the clock. The same man missed an important penalty at the end of the first-half for his second however, taking an age before blasting it high and hopeless. The Chilean is worth keeping close here though, as he has netted three goals in his last two Champions League games. Vidal to score first is 8/1, anytime stands 23/10.

Over 2.5 goals

Real have been nothing if not consistent in this competition so far, with all their matches at this level ending with three or more goals scored. Two of their games so far have given us six goals. Over 2.5 in the total goals market is tight at 2/5, but if you fancy the home side, we’re giving Real Madrid to win and over 2.5 goals to be scored at 2/1.
