Luke Morris thinks this unbeaten filly has a great chance at Newbury on Saturday

Riding Saturday and big-race winners is what matters most to jockeys so to grab a double at York last weekend with Marsha taking the Listed race was highly satisfying.

We’ve always liked Marsha and I’ve mentioned our high opinion of her several times in my blog so it was brilliant to see her produce what we know she can on the course the last twice.

It was a very strong Listed race and the time was impressive considering the ground was good, or perhaps a little slow. I think that will stand her in good stead in the future and her next stop is Goodwood for the King George sprint. I think she’s ready for a race like that. She beat the likes of Muthmir, Easton Angel and other good sprinter at York and I thought it was a performance worthy of the step up to Group company.

She’s definitely one to look forward to and in general my boss Sir Mark Prescott has his horses running really well at the moment. But while it’s good to be riding winners we want to keep getting the big successes at the weekend and I hope I will be able to get more success today.

They rode her much more positively at Newmarket last time and it seemed to work the oracle. I wouldn’t be surprised if they looked to do the same in this race. She’s stepping up to Group 3 level against older horses so she’s going to need a career best. On the plus side, the ground will be in her favour and she can put in a decent performance.

4.10 Newbury – Mrs Danvers
She’s been very impressive in both of her starts so far and you can’t fault what she’s done. Her form has been on soft ground so far, but she hasn’t had the chance to race on faster ground so you can’t say she won’t handle it. If she does, then off a featherweight she’ll hopefully be there in the mix.

4.45 Newbury – Quixote
It was his first start for Tony Carroll last time and he ran okay at Sandown. He probably needs to drop down in the weights a bit before he can get his head in front.

5.15 Newbury – Ladurelli
He’d shown some smart form earlier in his career but he’s yet to fulfill that promise really. If he came back to the form he’s shown in the past he’s got a chance but he’s got a fair bit to prove at the moment.

All the best,
Luke
