Luke Morris thinks this horse is worth staying up late for at Carlisle on Saturday

I’m looking forward to another busy Saturday of racing at Haydock and Carlisle but I’ve already got half an eye on next week and the July festival at Newmarket.

The biggest race of the week is the Darley July Cup and I’ve been lucky enough to be asked to ride Mongolian Saturday in the race, something that’s obviously a privilege and exciting.

He’s a Breeders’ Cup winner and if he showed anything like that form he’d have to be in with a strong shout. He got upset before he ran in the King’s Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot and I know they are taking steps to stop him boiling over this time.

I’m hoping to pick up a few more rides next week but another I’m looking forward to is Dainty Dandy in the Duchess of Cambridge Stakes. She ran well in the Albany Stakes on her first start for Paul Cole and I think she’ll be better in this race. I had a sit on her this week and she’s a filly I like. I think she’s got talent.

As for Saturday, it’s a double-header for me and I’ve got lots of rides and lots of chances to win.

1.45 Haydock – Wild Hacked
I would have a slight concern about the ground for him although hopefully it will have dried out a bit by the race. I won on him earlier in the year and he’s a nice horse for sure. I’d have hoped he’d had done a little better since that win and hopefully he hasn’t hit his ratings ceiling yet. I think there’s more to come and he could be involved at the end of the race.

2.15 Haydock – Fireglow
She ran really well to be second in the Musidora two starts ago and didn’t really back that up at Royal Ascot last time, but a mile might have been too sharp for her that day. She’s getting a lot of weight off of her rivals and she’s a tough, hardy filly. I’m hoping she’ll be thereabouts.

2.50 Haydock – Gold Prince
He doesn’t mind a bit of give in the ground, which is a plus, and he ran a really nice race to be second at Epsom. This is a very tough handicap and he looks vulnerable to any potential improvers in the race. Having said that, he’s a solid horse and has to have an each-way chance.

3.25 Haydock – Reflektor
He’s another that likes to get his toe in. I don’t think the track should be a problem for him and he’s a straightforward horse to deal with. This is a race where none of them really look to have anything hidden from the handicapper so it will be a case of who’s in the best form on the day, who gets the luck and who’s in the right place at the right time. I hope it’s me.

6.35 Carlisle – Impassioned
She’s been working nicely albeit five furlongs might be sharp enough for her first time out. With the ground so soft in the south the boss Sir Mark Prescott has sent her here to get a bit of nice ground for her. We do think she’s a nice filly though and I’d like to think she can run well, although she’ll improve for the experience.

7.05 Carlisle – Ypres
He’s not been showing a lot this season so you’d want him to show a bit more before you could have any real confidence in his chances. That said, he’s won at the course off of a higher mark last year so if he could find a bit of that form he’d have a chance.

7.35 Carlisle – Incurs Four Faults
He’s a solid horse who normally runs his race. He’s vulnerable to anything that might have a bit of improvement in it, although there doesn’t really look to be anything like that in here. Trainer Keith Dalgleish has his team in really good form at the moment so at least we know the horse will be heading to this race in good order.

8.35 Carlisle – Holy Grail
She had some really good form last year for Richard Fahey but she’s not taken a step forward this year. If she could recapture the form she showed last year at two then she’d have a real chance in this. You have to wonder if she’s really trained on at this point though.

9.05 Carlisle – Vanishing Point
He’s a really nice ride to pick up and I’d like to think he can make a long day worthwhile. He’s already rated 83 and has shown he’s more than capable of winning a race like this. Ralph Beckett and William Haggas have both sent horses all the way up here too but I think we have the edge on them. He should be in with a really strong chance.
