Luke Morris thinks his ride at Wolves could be one for the future

Published:

HAPPY new year everyone, I hope you all had a really good time of things over Christmas and the new year.

I took a few days off to recharge after a busy year but I’m back and firing on all cylinders now, and my first aim is to make up some ground in the jockeys’ championship.

I’ve slipped a little down the table and I need to get a few winners on the board to climb back up all the way to the top.
It’s more congested in the table than it’s ever been as everyone seems to be riding winners at the moment instead of just one or two jockeys. It’s worked well in a way as it means I’m not too far behind the others.

It’s all about getting some momentum going now and hopefully the rides and the winners will keep flowing so I can climb the table. I’ll be giving it everything over the next few months.

Lingfield and Wolverhampton rides

12.40 Lingfield – Traveller
I thought he showed he had talent on his debut, and his trainer Charlie Hills generally gets his horses to improve for a run. I’d like to think he can step up on that in what doesn’t look the strongest race in the world and he’s got a good chance. He’s nicely drawn and shouldn’t be far away.

1.10 Lingfield – Billyoakes

He doesn’t get his head in front much but he generally runs well. He’s got a tricky draw in stall ten, but he’s in good form and has an each-way chance.

2.55 Lingfield – Coral Sea
She’s been placed on her start so far but I’ve never ridden her so I couldn’t question her resolution yet. She’s bumped into several smart types in her maidens and it could be the same again here. She’ll need to put her best foot but I think she’s in with a chance and should be fighting out the finish.

6.15 Wolverhampton – Tan Arabiq
He’s been running reasonably well recently but may need a little help from the handicapper. Trainer Mick Appleby’s horses are in good form at the moment after a quieter period and that gives you some hope.

6.45 Wolverhampton – Imperial Link

She’s got a tricky stall but she’s generally dropped in and ridden for luck. She’s going to need luck to win albeit she’s on a good handicap mark now.

7.15 Wolverhampton – Jazri
He’s been a good old campaigner for his trainer Milton Bradley. Milton’s horses are running well at the moment and they’re always worth keeping an eye on when they do. I think this horse will be better for a couple of recent runs and he’s in the right grade, so if things drop right then he’s more than capable of making the most of them.

7.45 Wolverhampton – Visionary
Chupalla sets a fair standard in this race and my horse will have to step up to match that. His last run was his first for a while and I think he’ll have sharpened up for that. He won’t be far away in this.

8.15 Wolverhampton – Champagne Queen
This is a very weak race and won’t take a lot of winning. Her trainer Rae Guest is a shrewd operator and has put this filly up in trip from 5f to 6f. She has a small chance if the trip helps.

8.45 Wolverhampton – Invincible Man
He’s a beautifully-bred horse. I rode him in work at the end of last year and he goes well. He’s shown enough at home to give him an each-way chance but whatever he does he’ll improve on.

Cheers,
Luke
