Luke Morris thinks Postponed is a level above at the Ebor Festival
Published:
DAY one at York is as good a racing experience as you get anywhere and in Postponed there is a genuine superstar in action in the Juddmonte International.
I’m not riding as I’m serving the final day of a ban, but I’m really looking forward to the action and seeing what Postponed in particular can do.

1.55 York – Line Of Reason
He’s going to have a good pace to run at which is important and I thought he was unlucky not to finish closer in the King George at Goodwood. He ran back well in a handicap last time and I think in a handicap again he has to be respected.
2.30 York – Best Of Days
He’s the one with all the potential in this race. There are some smart horses there on form but he won really well on his only start at Sandown and Godolphin have come in since to buy him. I think this will be another step in his progression and I think he’s smart.

3.05 York – Idaho
This looks a trappy race and Across The Stars was the one I wanted to immediately focus on as he looked good last time. However, he has to carry a penalty for that win which I think brings him and Idaho closer together so I’ll go for the latter. He’s run good races all year and I think this is his chance to get his head in front.
3.40 York – Postponed
This is a first-class race and with conditions the way they are I think the others have got it all to do to stop Postponed. Highland Reel will run a big race, but is likely to fall short against a horse of Postponed’s class, and I don’t think the others look up to his level.

4.20 York – Sweet Selection
She beat me on Sea Of Heaven last time and he’s gone on to win at Ascot and be second in the Shergar Cup since. She won pretty well that day and is definitely a progressive stayer. It wouldn’t surprise me if she was competing at Pattern level next year and could be a lot better than the handicap mark she’s racing off.
4.55 York – Lonely The Brave
This is the trappiest on the card and you could run it five or six times and get a different winner every time. Lonely The Brave has run well on all three starts and has a bit of class, which will be important. It’s a seriously competitive race though.
