Will Real Madrid ace break Messi and Ronaldo’s hold?
Real Madrid star Luka Modric looks set to win the 2018 Ballon D’or award, according to the latest Coral odds.
Modric is just 2/5 to become the first player other than Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo to win the award since Kaka in 2007.
The midfielder led Croatia to the World Cup final in the summer and played a major role in Madrid’s third-successive Champions League win.
Ronaldo is second-favourite at 5/2, with Kylian Mbappe a 6/1 shot in third. Messi is back at 12/1 after Barcelona and Argentina failed to challenge for the Champions League and World Cup respectively.
“The betting suggests Messi and Ronaldo’s grip on the Ballon d’Or could be coming to an end this year as Luka Modric is odds-on to win the prize following his performances at the World Cup with Croatia and domestically for Real Madrid,” said Coral’s John Hill.
