Liverpool agree to sign free agent Danny Ings on July 1st

Premier League top four chances in 2015/16 Liverpool (5/2) have announced that they are set to sign their second out-of-contract English star, as Burnley’s Danny Ings will join on July 1st. However, a compensation fee is yet to be agreed.
The transfer comes soon after the Reds also snapped up free agent James Milner from Manchester City.

Liverpool announced on their official website: “Liverpool are delighted to announce that they have agreed personal terms with Danny Ings and, subject to a medical, the striker will join the club on July 1st after his contract with Burnley has expired.
“The 22-year-old struck 11 goals in 35 Premier League appearances last season, which was his first in the top flight. Ings had found the target 21 times in the previous campaign to help the Clarets secure promotion from the Championship. The forward has nine caps for England Under-21s, with four goals to date too, and will represent his country at the Under-21 European Championship later this month.
“Ings faced the Reds twice in 2014/15, featuring for 90 minutes at Anfield in March.”
Championship promotion chances Burnley (9/2), meanwhile, confirmed: “Burnley Football Club can confirm that Danny Ings has today agreed personal terms with Liverpool Football Club and, subject to a medical, will complete a move to Merseyside on July 1st. Burnley has rejected an offer made by Liverpool, but will continue to have dialogue with the club in order to reach a resolution over the fee.”

The signing of Ings will be a real confidence booster to Brendan Rodgers, as the striker was also linked with the likes of Manchester United, Newcastle United and Real Sociedad. Liverpool recently missed out on Dutch winger Memphis Depay too, who instead chose the Red Devils.
Rodgers will be particularly pleased too, given that his forwards dramatically failed last season, with Mario Balotelli, Rickie Lambert, Fabio Borini and Daniel Sturridge managing a total of eight Premier League goals.
It is reported that Ings’ former club Bournemouth, whose academy he came through, will also receive a slice of the compensation fee agreed between Burnley and Liverpool.
