Lingfield preview: Street Art holds serious claims

Street Art is in terrific form at present, so looks to hold outstanding claims of notching a second career success in the 1m 5f handicap at Lingfield today (13.50).
The Mike Murphy trained gelding has shown improved form since going handicapping and opened his account at the fifth time of asking when landing a 1m 4f contest at Kempton in good style.
After being held-up well off the pace, the four-year-old showed a good turn of foot to come with a scything run from the two marker and beat Azure Amour by a short-head off a mark of 46.
The third and fourth home have both come out and scored since, and that gives the form a solid look in the contest of this contest.
Street Art has since gone on to finish an excellent neck second at Wolverhampton off 51 when collared close home and beaten just a neck and, although now 2lb higher in the weights, the son of Excellent Art is clearly on an upward curve and in should have more to offer after just six starts.
This also doesn’t look the strongest of class 6 contests and, with Shane Kelly in the saddle, Street Art looks the one they all have to beat.
Ashford Island could complete double
Murphy and Kelly look to have a good chance of completing a double in the card with Ashford Island in 7f handicap (15.20).
The gelding has only had four starts and shaped far better than the bare result suggests last time out on handicap debut over 1m at Chepstow when sixth of 10 to Senza Una Donna.
Ashford Island travelled nicely off the pace until making good headway three from home to hold every chance at the two marker.
The three-year-old only weakened approaching the final furlong to be beaten 7 1/2 lengths, and was not knocked about once it was clear he would not be winning.
It was an effort which suggested Ashord Island has enough ability to win a race of this nature off a lowly mark of 50, and the drop back down to 7f looks sure to suit.
