Lingfield preview: Naizah appeals on handicap debut

Naizah posted a really solid effort when runner-up last time out and can go one better to open her account in the 1m 2f handicap on today’s all-weather card at Lingfield (15.10).
The Ed Dunlop trained filly has shaped with bags of promise in just three starts, and signalled that her time was near when beaten just 1/2 a lengtb by Privileged in an 11-runner 1m maiden at Chelmsford.
Naizah raced in touch until getting outpaced three from home, but then stayed on strongly to press the now 82-rated winner all the way to the line.
The pair pulled 2 1/2 lengths clear of the third home Kiltara, and that one has come out and won twice since and is now rated 89.
That gives the form a strong look, and suggests that Naizah has got in lightly on handicap debut off an opening mark of just 75.
The daughter of Tamayuz also looks sure to appreciate the step up in trip given how she finished off the race, and remains unexposed an open to stacks more improvement.
This is also a weak class 4 contest lacking any real strength in depth, and connections appear to have found a glorious opening for Naizah to get off the mark.
Grizzly Bear a great price
Trainer Jeremy Noseda does really well with his runners at the track, and Grizzly Bear can provide with him another success in the 7f nursery (14.40).
The Newmarket handler has a strike rate of 27 per cent at the venue in the past 12 months, and in Grizzly Bear has a lightly raced maiden who posted a career-best effort last time out when third of 13 to Gaspiralli at Newmarket.
Grizzly Bear lost ground when going left at the start but showed plenty of pace to chase the leaders before keeping on to be beaten 1 3/4 lengths.
It was an effort which suggested the son of Kodiac should be up to winning races off his current mark of 65, and Grizzly Bear now makes his all-weather debut and is bred to do well on the artificial surface.
