Leicester preview: See The Rock set for more success

Trainer Jonjo O’Neill has his team in good form at present, so See The Rock can provide him with another success in the 2m novices’ hurdle on today’s card at Leicester (14.10).
The gelding had some useful form on the flat in Germany when winning four times, and shaped with plenty of promise on his debut over hurdles for O’Neill when sixth at Plumpton.
See The Rock raced far too keenly and made mistakes before weakening late on, and duly built on that experience to open his hurdling account over course and distance last month.
The five-year-old settled far better, and after making good headway from off the pace two from home showed a good attitude on the run-in to come from four lengths down and beat Final Nudge by a short-head.
It was a most taking performance, and the runner-up has come out and won since in good style to give the form a solid look.
See The Rock looks a smart performer in the making judged on that effort, and with further progress looking assured can get the better of main market rival Iftiraaq to land the spoils before going on to even better things.
King’s should be going for a Song
In the 2m 6f novices’ handicap chase (14.45), King’s Song looks a worthy favourite to make it 2-2 over the larger obstacles.
The David Dennis trained gelding was a winning hurdler who looked a natural over fences when scoring impressively at Ludlow 10 days ago.
After being held-up off the pace, the five-year-old made smooth headway to challenge three form home before pulling clear from the second last to easily beat I Am Colin by 10 lengths.
King’s Song made a mockery of his mark of 95, and it’s no surprise to see connections turn him out quickly under a 7lb penalty.
The son of King’s Theatre is due to race off a revised rating of 110 in future, contests, so is 8lb well-in at the weights.
Granted a clear round, that is going to make King’s Song very difficult to beat.
