Leading jockey Luke Morris has his eyes on the big prizes at Lingfield this Saturday

For the second time this week I’m taking part in an exciting and seriously competitive day of quality racing and I’m really looking forward to it.
On Thursday I was out in Dubai for a couple of rides at the Carnival and there’s always a great buzz out there and it was brilliant to get the opportunity. It breaks up the winter a little to have the chance to go out there and it’s a good thing for people to see you there riding too.
However, the improvement in the all-weather season since the All-Weather Championships came in is really shown on a day like Saturday at Lingfield where the races is competitive and the horses are classy.
It’s great that these horses have the chance to race for prizes like they do on Saturday and hopefully I’ll be able to pick up a few wins if possible.
Autumn Tonic – 1.10 Lingfield
He ran reasonably well last time but realistically he’d have to step up a lot on that run to take a hand in this race. We do have a better draw than last time, which will help us a little bit, but he needs to find that improvement to take a hand.
This is a really competitive race. My horse is around third best on the figures so you’d have to think he’s got a nice chance of being involved. He’s drawn in stall nine which isn’t ideal, so we’ll look to try and get as nice a position as possible and hope he can show the form he has over five furlongs over this longer trip today.
The trip was too short for her to show her real best last time and really her best trip is somewhere between and mile and a miles and a quarter. We were only beaten a short head in this race last year so I’d like to think she’d have a good, solid chance again. She’s drawn in three, which is good, and close to the front runner Watersmeet as well which also will help.
Dutiful Son – 3.30 Lingfield
He’s in good form at the moment as shown by his run at Kempton in the week and is obviously backing up quick by coming into this race today. This is a really good prize and as such it’s an ultra-competitive race. We’re nicely berthed down near the rail though and given his recent form I’d like to think he can be there in the shake up at the end of the race. However, it’s one of those races where you could give strong chances to five or six of the horses in there.
Medicean Queen – 4.05 Lingfield
She used to be with Clive Brittain and has moved across to James Tate after Clive retired. I had a sit on this filly last week and I think she’ll improve for the race having been off for over 600 days. She’s a filly that stays well and gallops strongly so I hope she can run a respectable race in what is not the strongest maiden in the world.
Megara – 4.35 Lingfield
He’s been unlucky not to win his last three races really as he’s just bumped into an improving horse the two times he’s been second. He’s a very solid, honest horse and I think he’s sure to be thereabouts at the end of the race as he tries very hard and will gallop all the way to the line. My horse has been improving with his racing and, while there isn’t much left up his sleeve, I think there’s still a little bit more to come from him yet.
