La Liga: Athletic Bilbao travel to Villarreal in match of mixed fortunes
Published:
Villarreal are unbeaten so far in La Liga, after two wins and a draw and are favourites at evens with Coral to beat Athletic Bilbao at home.
On his return to his native Spain, striker Robert Soldado is enjoying his football again and struck in the Yellow Submarine’s last home match. He is 9/2 to open the scoring and 7/4 to net anytime.
Meanwhile, fellow new signing and Soldado’s strike partner Cedric Bakambu has also been in lethal form, with three goals so far, including a brace in Villarreal’s previous home fixture. The Congolese frontman has odds of 19/10 to strike anytime and is 7/1 to dispatch two or more.
Last season, honours were even between the two sides, with Villarreal recording a 2-0 win at home while they lost 4-0 on the road. Bruno Soriano was one of the scorers and he is 4/1 to strike again in the anytime market.
On-loan attacker Leo Baptistao, owned by Atletico Madrid struck his first goal of the season last time out in the club’s 2-1 Europa League loss to Rapid Vienna and the Brazilian is 11/2 to break the deadlock.
Athletic Bilbao have had an indifferent start to their campaign, after comprehensively beating Barcelona in the Super Cup over two legs and then recording consecutive La Liga defeats before their first victory last time out against Getafe as Aritz Aduriz bagged a brace in a 3-1 win.
The striker is 6/1 to break the deadlock and 9/1 to net two or more, having also struck at the double in the Basque outfit’s 3-1 Europa League win over German side Augsburg last time out, and in his side’s 4-0 victory over Villarreal last season. Guess what? Yes, two goals!
Midfielder Markel Susaeta added a third late on in Europe and the 27-year-old is 9/2 to net anytime. Bilbao’s last away trip in the league though was less than convincing as they slumped to a 2-0 defeat to Eibar.
Coral’s top tip: Soldado first scorer @ 9/2
