3.00 Musselburgh – Fine Wine
He has been consistent on the all-weather over the winter without getting his nose in front. The handicapper has dropped him down to a mark of 88 and this will be his first time on the grass this year.
Fine Wine is a sprinter who likes to be in front and dictate the pace. If he jumps out of the stalls and leads them along, hopefully, he will take some pegging back. He is a fast horse with a lot of ability.
4.45 Musselburgh – Zargun
We were successful at Doncaster last weekend on similar ground. I also won the Catterick Dash on him a couple of years ago off a mark of 92. He is now racing from a mark of 64, so this rating remains very workable.
It’s better to be drawn high on the sprint course at Musselburgh and we have been drawn in stall 11. I spoke to Scott Dixon earlier this week and he tells me he came out of his race at Doncaster well and he is good to go again. If he puts his best foot forward, I think he could take some beating.
5.50 Musselburgh – Clipsham Gold
I’ve not ridden this horse before. She switched to Simon West’s yard back in February and she has had two runs since then. She is dropping back down to 1m again and hopefully, she can find her best form, as she has won three times over this distance. The ground is a slight concern, but she is going to be off bottom weight and that will be an advantage.
