Trainer David Evans has his team in fine form, and Earnestine can provide him with another winner in the 1m 2f handicap that opens proceedings on this evening’s card at Kempton (16.55).

The filly has shown progressive form in her last two starts, finishing third at Chepstow before getting beat just a neck by Fairyinthe Wind in a class 5 contest at Bath 10 days ago.

Earnestine came from off the pace in the latter to be closing all the way to the line, and the front two pulled 3 1/4 lengths clear of the field.

That gives the form a strong look, and the daughter of New Approach is able to race off an unchanged mark of 64.

It makes Earnestine look ahead of the assessor, and it’s no surprise to see connections turn her out quickly as she is due to race off 4lb higher in future engagements.

Earnestine also drops down into class 6 company for the first time, and this looks an excellent opportunity for her to notch a first success.

Mountain can come to punters’ Rescue

Mountain Rescue ran well when runner-up last time out and looks weighted to go one better in the 1m 3f handicap (18.55).

The Roger Charlton trained gelding is a lightly-raced and promising sort who caught the eye in no uncertain terms two starts back when fifth of 15 to King Bolette in a competitive class 4 contest at Newbury.

Although beaten 7 3/4 lengths, Mountain Rescue ran far better than that indicates as he got badly hampered a furlong from home before keeping on again under tender handling.

The three-year-old finished with plenty of petrol left in the tank, and it was an effort which suggested Mountain Rescue should have little difficulty winning races off his current mark of 79.

That view was confirmed when the son of High Chaparral finished runner-up to Rosenbaum at Wolverhampton when last seen in action.

Mountain Rescue now meets the winner on 7lb better terms, and also has the services of champion apprentice Tom Marquand in the saddle, who is unbelievable value for his 3lb claim.

Taking it into account, Mountain Rescue looks weighted to turn the tables on Rosenbaum and decent value to land the spoils.
