Midnight Cowboy and Kapricorne among tips for Kempton and Ludlow

Midnight Cowboy odds for trainer Alan King and Kapricorne bets are among Kempton and Ludlow tips for November 21 recommended by Coral experts.

Coral horse racing experts give their Kempton and Ludlow tips for November 21, featuring Midnight Cowboy odds and Kapricorne bets to score at these respective venues on Monday – a day when Altior makes his seasonal reappearance at the former track.

Midnight Cowboy odds weighted to open account at Kempton

Midnight Cowboy can cash-in on what looks a lenient mark to open his account over the obstacles in the 3m handicap hurdle on today’s card at Kempton (15:10).

The Alan King trained five-year-old posted some solid efforts last season, including when third of 15 to the now 135-rated Cyrius Moriviere at Huntingdon.

Midnight Cowboy backed that up with a good second of 10 to A Hare Breath at this venue, where he stuck to the task well despite being no match for the easy 10 length winner.

A Hare Breath has gone to to finish a cracking close-up fourth in the valuable Greatwood Hurdle at Cheltenham off a rating of 137. The fifth home Meme’s Horse, who finished 31 lengths behind the selection, has won since to be rated 127.

That gives the form a solid look and suggests the assessor has taken a real chance in allotting Minidnight Cowboy an opening handicap mark of just 115.

It makes the gelding look potentially thrown-in at the weights and, if ready to go at the first time of asking, this looks a nice opportunity for Midnight Cowboy to get on the scoresheet.

Un Prophete worth a punt

Trainer Venetia Williams is now back among the winners and Un Prophete looks decent value at the odds on offer to provide her with another success in the 2m handicap hurdle (15:40).

This gelding was a dual winner on the flat in France before joining Williams and, although he failed to get his head in front in five starts over hurdles last season, did run well to be placed on several occasions.

Un Prophete finished third in the last two of those at Sandown and Newton Abbott, failing to see out things at the business end of proceedings under big weights.

The five-year-old looked the type to do better this season once strengthened-up and now returns to action of what looks an exploitable unchanged mark of 105.

Connections have also decided to step up Un Prophete into class 3 company, which means he now only has a featherweight of 10st 1lb to carry.

It is a big plus, especially with jockey Charlie Deutsch taking off another 3lb with his claim, and Un Prophete has proven form on testing ground.

Kapricorne bets handicapped to strike at Ludlow

Kapricorne has slipped to a dangerous mark, so looks the answer in the 2m 7f handicap chase on today’s card at Ludlow (13:40).

The Sophie Leech trained gelding landed a hat-trick of successes over hurdles at the back end of 2015, with the last of those victories coming off a mark of 92.

Kapricorne failed to get his head in front last year when having his attentions switched to chasing, but did run well two finish runner-up on two occasions off ratings of 89 an 90.

The nine-year-old also shaped well for much of the race on return to action at Chepstow last month until unseating two from home and has since been dropped another 4lb by the assessor.

Kapricorne is now able to race off just 78 and that gives him outstanding claims from a handicapping perspective on the pick of his form.

Off bottom-weight of just 10st, and with underfoot conditions holding no fears, this looks a nice opportunity for the son of Kapgarde to gain an overdue success.

Frontier can provide Twiston-Davies with Another winner

In the 2m 5f handicap hurdle (15:50), Another Frontier looks capable of defying to weight to provide in-form trainer Nigel Twitson-Davies with another winner now eased in grade.

This five-year-old is yet to get his head in front in six starts over the obstacles, but has run some really solid efforts in defeat, including when fourth of 14 in a decent class 3 contest on his return to action at Aintree last month.

Another Frontier is now able to race in this lower grade class 4 affair off 1lb lower and entitled to strip much fitter for that outing.

The selection also has the services of Jamie Bargary in the saddle, who is terrific value for his 3lb claim, and taking it into account Another Frontier looks weighted to take all the beating.
