Mihajlovic position precarious

Defending Serie A champions Juventus will be expecting to come closer to retaining their crown this weekend, as the Scudetto chasers star in the prime Saturday evening encounter with AC Milan.

Already six points clear of closest competition Napoli in the standings, the Old Lady have miraculously clawed back from a shaky campaign start to become Italian top-flight title favourites (odds-on at 1/10 with Coral) for the fifth season in succession.

So, former AC Milan manager Massimiliano Allegri next takes his band of merry men to the San Siro, where he could play a part in drawing to a close another coach’s Rossoneri career, if reports are to be believed that struggling Sinisa Mihajlovic could be given the boot if he fails in this battle.

With Milan trailing third spot Roma by a whopping 15 points and so rank outsiders at 250/1 to clinch a Champions League qualification place, there is really only pride to play for on the red and black side of one of the peninsula’s most prestigious match-ups.

Juve winning machine to roll on

Of course, Turin titans Juventus are 6/5 to take the spoils from this star-studded tussle, as they seek to complete a league double over their northern Italian rivals after running out 1-0 winners in the Piedmont reverse.

As it happens, Juve have edged AC in all of their last six encounters, winning three of those by a narrow 1-0 margin, a scoreline customers can plump for at 5/1 to occur again.

With the Rossoneri (27/10 for the match spoils) having kept only one clean sheet as they have gone without a victory in their previous four fixtures, and the Old Lady boasting shut outs in four of their past five in the league, Juventus are value at 11/5 to triumph to nil.

Undefeated on the road in Serie A since October and with just one home defeat, the Turin team are 2/1 to at least nab a draw, with this a dress rehearsal of sorts for their upcoming Coppa Italia final clash against the Rossoneri.

Allegri attackers firing on all cylinders

Juventus may be missing Paulo Dybala but still have potent forwards aplenty to pick from for this San Siro showpiece. Croatian marksman Mario Mandzukic nabbed the winner against Empoli last time out and is 4/1 to be last to strike in Milan, while Alvaro Morata is back in the frame after recently bagging a brace and is 11/2 for the opener.

There’s much more to fear from Juve than just their forward line, however, as wideman Juan Cuadrado (14/5 for another anytime) and midfield dynamo Paul Pogba (12/5) have also been among the goals of late.

As for AC, Luiz Adriano (14/6 for a goal anytime) and Carlos Bacca (15/8) were both on the scoresheet in their side’s last two outings. While, Japan attacking midfield icon Keisuke Honda (7/2) issued a Rossoneri rallying call, telling press: “Everything is possible. Even beating Juventus. It will be difficult but we have to believe in ourselves.”
