Cheltenham Festival – Thursday

1.30 JLT Novices’ Chase – Lostintranslation

I think he is our best chance of the week. His form has been brilliant this year and a lot of it has been around Cheltenham.

The ground, with a bit of cut in it, should suit him perfectly. He is very straightforward to ride.

We will take up the running and we have to make sure it turns into a stamina test otherwise Defi Du Seuil will beat us in a sprint. Robbie Power knows the horse very well and how to get the best out of him.

2.10 Pertemps Network Final Handicap – Paddleyourowncanoe

Paddleyourowncanoe is a lovely horse who was fourth in the Fred Winter last year and has improved throughout the season.

He didn’t run his race last time at Sandown on heavy ground. He is not totally exposed yet so we are hoping he can find an improvement here in which case he could be competitive at the finish.

3.30 Stayers’ Hurdle – West Approach and Kilbricken Storm

West Approach has been second behind Paisley Park on his last two starts and on the back of those runs, he is probably too big of a price here.

He will have to do well to reverse the form with the favourite, however, he has beaten the rest of them fair and square. He will love the ground and he is in really good order.

Kilbricken Storm could be for the forgotten horse in the race. His Albert Bartlett and Punchestown form have been rock solid.

He had a hairline fracture of the pelvis which set him back but he did a lovely piece of work around Wincanton a fortnight ago. That novice hurdle form is really good and much better than Paisley Park’s so if he bounces back, he will be thereabouts. We are really excited about him.
