Joe Tizzard: “Hopefully Vision De Fos can win on the bridle.”

Review of last weekend

Ultragold ran a blinder last Saturday at Aintree. Those National fences seem to bring out the best in him for whatever reason.

We were thrilled to bits with him and we will work backwards from next year’s Grand National meeting in April.

We may even stick him in the Grand National itself to see if he gets in and if not he can run in the Topham again.

Finian’s Oscar wasn’t quick enough at Sandown, it’s as simple as that.

He made a mistake at the first and could never catch up. He won’t run over two miles again. He might go to Ascot next Friday for a two and a half mile Grade 2. He just wants a bit further.

I was bit disappointed with Fox Norton, even though he’s finished second in a Grade 1 Tingle Creek.

It looked like Politologue always had the first run on us really. I thought Fox Norton might pick up him up over the last two but he didn’t. It was still a good run.

He’ll be left in the King George and he is likely to run. We are keen to have a go with him in the race.

Thistlecrack is in great form since his run. We schooled him on Thursday morning and he schooled really well.

Tom Scudamore will be down to school him during the week. He looks a lot fitter for his run.

Saturday

2.30 Cheltenham – Kilbricken Storm

They gave him a mark of 137 off the back of his runs, and the horse of Paul Nicholls that was upsides us last time and fell at the last, Mont Des Avaloirs, has come out and won since.

It’s a big step up in trip but originally we always thought he wanted that, and we only ran him over two miles to get a feel for him. He deserves to take his chance, the owners were keen to have a go and this will tell us how good he is.

On what he’s shown us on the track and the feel he’s given his jockeys, then I don’t think he’ll disgrace himself at all in this.

12.55 Hereford – Vision Des Flos

If Hereford doesn’t survive the inspection then Vision Des Flos will go to Plumpton on Monday.

We just wanted to go small with him as we’ve chucked him in the deep end twice and he certainly hasn’t disgraced himself.

Hopefully he can win on the bridle and give him a nice confidence boost.

3.15 Hereford – Quiz Master

It’s the right race for him and hopefully he can get his head in front.
