Joe Tizzard: “He is in good form and I was pleased with his run at Cheltenham a few weeks ago”

Coral ambassador Joe Tizzard previews his runners at Chepstow and Sandown on Saturday, and his two at Huntingdon on Sunday.
Saturday
I was really pleased with his opening run of the season at Chepstow last month. He finished second over this C&D. He should come on loads for that run. He has won over this course before, so I think he comes into this race with an excellent chance of success.
He has just lost his way a little bit over the last 12 months. He suffered a nasty fall in the RSA Chase at the Cheltenham when it looked like he was going to finish third. At the end of the day, he is a classy horse who has had his problems. We have just had to look after him. Last time out at Ascot, he unseated Brendan Powell from the saddle. We are giving him a run over hurdles here to get his confidence up. He is showing good signs at home, so we are hopeful we can get him back on track in the near future.
He is in good form and I was pleased with his run at Cheltenham over 2m 4f just a few weeks ago. The veterans’ final is the plan for this horse in early January, so I just want to get another run into him to keep him ticking over ahead of that race. He might bump into a younger and improving horse here, but whatever happens, it will put him in good shape for the veterans’ race at Sandown just after the New Year.
He is a lovely young horse who is progressive. In every start over hurdles, he improved with experience. He is now going chasing, but I am confident he will continue to progress as he has had plenty of schooling at home. He was a little green in the early stages of his hurdling campaign, but after a couple of runs, he soon got warmed up. I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s the case over fences.
He was a little disappointing at Kempton last month where he beat just one horse. I am hoping he takes a big step forward on that showing. We will give him three runs fast and let him learn on the track. Once this horse has a handicap mark, things will become a little easier for him.
Sunday
He had a nice comeback run at Wetherby at the end of October. He is fit and well and he is in the right grade here. This will be his fifth start over fences, so he knows what it is all about now. He has yet to score under Rules, but he is a Points winner. I don’t think it will be long before he breaks his maiden tag.
This is her first start, and we are chucking her into the deep end a little bit in a Listed race. The owner only lives 10 minutes away from Huntingdon, so it is nice for him to see his horse at his local track. It might be a little beyond her, but she has to start somewhere.
