4.10 – Killer Kane

We gave Killer Kane the original entry in this race as we wanted the option if he came out of his Coral Trophy run at Kempton well, and in recent days he was really pleasing me, so we made the decision to come here.  Ideally he’d want a couple of drier days, but he was third in the Topham on soft ground last year, so he will go on it.

He’s got in down the bottom of the handicap, and I think he’s on a mark that he can be competitive off, it’s Cheltenham so we know how hard it will be, but if Brendan [Powell] can get him into a rhythm, there’s no reason they can’t go well.

The Topham is the aim once again, but there’s a decent gap until Aintree this year, so it makes sense to run here.  It’s the Festival, so if you can get a horse into a race, you should take your chance and run, and I think he can outrun his odds for sure.
